Description
We are the Hampshire Township Park District, providing recreational, educational and cultural opportunities that improve the quality of life through a responsive, efficient and creative park and recreation system since 1948. We are looking for Inclusion Aides to work at Big Timber Elementary. This non-exempt, part time position lasts 10 months, coinciding with the school year. An inclusion aide is a one-one instructor for a child with a disability that is involved in a park district school-age program. This person is to provide support and encouragement to the assigned child, communicate with the parent, park district staff and NISRA (Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association) staff. The position has holidays and school closings off, including inclement weather days as dictated by the school district. We require candidates that have availability Monday through Friday between 1:45pm and 5:30pm, hours will coordinate with the child's attendance in our program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Participate in crafts, games, activities and sports with school-age children.
  • Attendance, punctuality and dependability are a must.
  • Ability to follow directions, proficiency in decision-making and conflict resolution.
  • Exhibit excellent customer service to participants and parents and the ability to work with a team to achieve a successful program.
  • Must be a role model for participants by using proper language, acceptable attire, appropriate behavior and being courteous at all times.
  • Ability to provide professional written and verbal communication with participants, parents and staff.
  • Must use good judgment and follow safety policies/protocols of the school and the park district.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age AND
  • Have a valid driver's license or reliable transportation to/from work AND
  • Current CPR, First Aid/AED certification or ability to obtain within 90 days.
  • Previous experience working with children with disabilities is highly preferred.
